Fujitsu employs strict ENERGY STAR 4.0 guidelines to conserve power

Posted under Corporate News, Mobile Products

Products that earn the ENERGY STAR use less energy and prevent greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy. With energy costs and global warming becoming a top priority for consumers, Fujitsu is committed to offering solutions that help consumers conserve energy and improve the quality of our environment.
ENERGY STAR not only saves you money, it helps protect the environment
Fujitsu ENERGY STAR qualified mobile PCs use about half as much electricity as standard equipment – saving half in utility costs.  But more than that, ENERGY STAR also makes a difference for the environment.  Did you know that the average house can be responsible for twice the greenhouse gas emissions as the average car?  That’s because every time you flip on a light switch, run your dishwasher, or turn on your PC, you use energy, which means more greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.  So the more energy we can save through energy efficiency, the more we help to reduce greenhouse gases and the risks of global warming.
ENERGY STAR 4.0 Requirements
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US Department of Energy (DOE) recently published stricter guidelines for PCs to earn the ENERGY STAR.  Taking effect on July 20, 2007, ENERGY STAR 4.0 requires that qualified PCs consume even less energy while plugged in and while on the go.  The following Fujitsu mobile PCs already meet the strict ENERGY STAR 4.0 guidelines:

  • LifeBook® B6210 Notebook
  • LifeBook® B6220 Notebook
  • LifeBook® P7230 Notebook
  • LifeBook® P1610 Notebook
  • Stylistic® ST5100 Tablet PC

Fujitsu Recycle Program offers free return/recycling of old PCs

Posted under Corporate News, Mobile Products

As PCs become more and more ubiquitous, many users find it necessary to dispose of their old computers. Because computers can contain hazardous material, they should be recycled through a reputable recycler for disposal of hazardous materials and recovery of reusable products. Fujitsu now offers a free Recycle Program through which you can return any notebook or tablet computer that is manufactured or sold by Fujitsu Computer Systems Corp. This program provides a zero cost and environmentally responsible solution for the return, recycle or full raw material recovery of these products.

This is just one more way we demonstrate our commitment to our customers and the environment. For more information about the Fujitsu Recycle Program, please go to this link.

Fujitsu gets “greener” with its expanded global recycling plan

Posted under Corporate News

In March, the Fujitsu Group announced the expansion of its end-of-life IT products-recycling service. In addition to the voluntary recycling service already underway in Australia, Canada, and the US, the service is now offered at one additional location each in Canada and the US. The Fujitsu Group will also expand the service gradually in Southeast Asian countries beginning in this month.
These additions in North America and the APAC region build on existing services in Japan and Europe, enabling IT products-recycling at a total of nine locations in six countries. In this way, Fujitsu is working with its environmentally-minded customers to deal appropriately with IT products that have reached the end of their useful life and thereby contribute to environmental sustainability.
