Fujitsu has donated to the Computer History Museum several processor components developed for the Numerical Wind Tunnel (NWT) and the Fujitsu VPP series supercomputer, VPP500, VPP300/700, and VPP5000. The NWT was ranked No. 1 in the world when it debuted in the Top 500 Supercomputer Sites list in November 1993.
The museum accepted the gift at a ceremony at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, Calif., which also featured a discussion of NWT/VPP contributions to computational fluid dynamics advancement, and the direction of petascale computing at Fujitsu.
